Anthony is owner and creative director of a Anthony J. Fisher, Freelance Art, Inc. serving various local businesses, Fortune 500 and International companies. He specializes in brand design including logos, print promotional material, package design, photography and web design. He is the primary designer for the company, and uses a network of freelance artist, designers and photographers to execute some of the creative.
Anthony has been teaching Graphic Design and Imaging at Lawrence Technological University (LTU) since Fall 2001. He was Chairman of the Committee Creating an Imaging Program with two concentrations in Digital Arts and Graphic design, and is instrumental in launching new classes in the program. He is currently Head of the Imaging Program and fulltime instructor teaching Graphic Design and Digital Arts courses.
He is also a cartoonist, writing and creating political cartoons and a strip cartoon, entitled “What’s Your Pointe” since 1999, for “The Pointer” monthly magazine. He also self-syndicates a feature cartoon, called “Fish Fry” to 10 weekly publications in Michigan. Fish Fry was the featured cartoon on Tribune Media Services website ComicsEdge.com for the month of November in 2000. Over a period of two years, King Feature Syndication purchased 10 of his cartoons, and released them worldwide under “The New Breed” cartoon. Anthony applied for the Washington Post Writers Group Cartoon Fellowship in 2003, and although was not granted one of the three positions, was informed that he was it the top 10 of over 400 cartoonist. Anthony also publishes a cartoon in New York’s The American Institute of Wine & Food newsletter.
He wrote his own degree while attending Eastern Michigan University (EMU), earning a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies. In 1988, he earned the College Media Advisors (CMA) national award of “Best Editorial Cartoonist”, and a Second Place Award for Political Cartoon in the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s Gold Circle Awards. You can still see his work at EMU, as he designed both the Eastern Eagle logo and the mascot logo “Swoop”.
